Night Out… (First screened on UK TV on 6th February 1975, writer Troy Kennedy Martin.) The irresponsible, praise seeking Superintendent Grant, the head of a rival Crime Squad is aware that a team of villains is searching the contents of a bank vault.
For something special, but he won't act until he's traced the source of the radio signals that will lead him to their boss. Grant discovers that the woman who lives above the pub that is situated next door to the bank, and whose window the villains intend to use in their eventual rooftop getaway, is a face from Regan's past. Regan is drafted in against his will and forced to pay her an unexpected visit.
This is a very funny episode, especially as Regan doesn't want to be with his lady friend to start with, but then he gets into the swing of things and starts enjoying himself, even having her cook him a meal.
Great scene when Regan falls on the roof into the water, makes me laugh, and then when his lady friend puts his gun in the dishwasher, this is such a good episode love it!! Also love the outtakes for this episode that are on the boxset as a bonus, very funny.

This episode is a corker. John is sooo sexy. The fight scene in the pub is hilarious, like an old Keystone Cops debacle.
The end scene with T. P. McKenna is priceless.

Lolli - I love the scene of the poor old guy coming down the stairs yelling 'Its the Old Bill, It's the Old Bill' or similar. Then one of Jack's men coolly trips him. (not funny in real life - but you know he doesn't really get hurt).
Then George getting beaten up by his own men? Keystone cops alright!
I feel another essay coming on...there's SO much i could say about this one. Yes I ADORE the scenes of Jack and his old flame. So funny. Such a shame what happens to his 'pistol' don't you think?
And yeah Janet I also laugh at the scene where Jack drops his gun in the water. What a clutz! Yet what a manly (if naturally scared) hero when he cops the bullet in the leg when the baddies are coming up through the hatch! His lady friend suddenly cared for him again when she saw his wound. Made me want to hug him an' all too! And the look of white shock on Jack's face. Very effective and emotional acting.

I'm back! HAD to say you sure can pick the best shots Janet. This is THE favourite shot of mine from that episode and I would frequently replay it when I watched it.
John's smile just looks soooo handsome and natural. (even if in the story he was forcing himself!) And the pic looks good in black and white. Ohh MWAH!!! Is all I can say!
