10th anniversary of John's death

As you all know on 21st February 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of the sad passing of this wonderful actor, and i think we should all mark it by watching what made us a fan of him in the first place.

So for me that will be "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner", which i saw in 1973, and i've been hooked on him ever since. I plan on watching it on blu-ray as i've not watched it yet, because i was saving it for this occasion.

When you have decided what you are watching please leave a reply to this thread so everyone else can see what you have choosen.

Also for John's birthday and anniversary i will be updating the blog with a new slidshow and maybe a new layout, have to see first

I'll be watching "Service to All the Dead." That was the episode on PBS Mystery Series here in the US that I first saw John, and changed my life forever.

Hi Lollipop
That is one of my 10 all time favourite Morse stories, and the very first time i saw it back in 1987 when it was screened here in the UK, i stuck with the 'tramp' as the murderer even though it looked on screen as if he got bumped off.

I EXPECTED TO TRAVEL TO LONDON FOR THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF JOHN THAW, UNFORTUNATELY MY ECONOMIC SITUATION IS VERY BAD, CHILE IS A SMALL COUNTRY TO THE FINAL OF SOUTH AMERICA, AND ALTHOUGH IT IS THE MAIN EXPORTER OF COPPER AND THIS METAL IS VERY EXPENSIVE, THE GLOBAL CRISIS HAS PRODUCED AN IMPACT ON THE MIDDLE CLASS WITH GREAT SADNESS BECAUSE WHEN HE DIED I WAS IN EUROPE,I WILL BE SINCE THE END OF THE WORLD WITH ALL OF MY HEART WITH ALL OF HIS FANS

I have been watching all the Morse episodes and now have been watching The Sweeney episodes. I had never seen them before - I doubt they were ever shown in the USA since there is so much British slang used, it is sometimes hard to follow. I think a nice long marathon of any show or movie that has John Thaw in it is a good way to celebrate the life of such a great actor.
